Out with the Old and in with the New – Reflection of an Internet Marketer

As we get towards the end of 2009, I thought I’d take a bit of time to reflect on where I’m at personally in comparison to this time last year.

At the end of last year and having worked on an extremely demanding and mentally draining task in my corporate role, I was in work and thinking “I need another huge challenge similar to that, I need to be working pro-actively, making decisions, devising strategic plans and working alongside my fantastic team to deliver outstanding results.

It didn’t happen and much as I tried to be pro-active and forward thinking, proposing several suggestions based on sound business sense and customer service, others who needed to endorse the proposed changes were much more risk averse than I was.

Working in career guidance we teach a model called the alignment model and this basically outlines that your needs and wants have to be in alignment with the organisation you work for.  If you are out of alignment then you need to either find that motivator, that driver outside of work to feel fulfilled, or you need to look for another job.

I didn’t want to look for another job because I really love and believe in what I do, I work alongside a fantastic team who are well motivate, embrace change and constantly come up with new and exciting ideas that we discuss then implement.

So what did I do?  Well I found the challenge I was seeking by joining a Home Business opportunity with the full intention of making it a success and eventually working from home full-time.

I have to say however, I had absolutely no idea about internet marketing or how to make money online.  I knew how to surf the net and send email but that really was about the extent of it.  Now I have so much learning under my belt, I amaze myself sometimes by things I do know but thought I didn’t if that makes sense.

5 months down the road and I’m still working in my management role and running my business part-time.  That however is my choice.  Financially I could leave now but something inside of me is saying “don’t do it just yet”.

You see, I still have lots I want to do in my job, changes I want to see implemented, some of which I have personally proposed and many of these will happen in 2010.  I also don’t feel I’m ready to leave the team and sit at home on my own.  Although I love to work on my own at times, I also enjoy going to work in the morning, having a laugh with the others and seeing great results every day.

If you’re reading this blog post and you are working in a position that often leaves you unfulfilled, why not consider doing what I did and finding that challenge in something else.  You definitely won’t regret it, that’s for sure and may find like I did, that this is something I should have done years ago.

If you want to get started, just fill in your details at the top of this post and I’ll help you get started on your road to financial freedom (if that’s what you want) or get you to a point where YOU can sack YOUR BOSS!  How good would that feel?

As I sign off now with only 3 days left of this old year, I have to say it’s been fantastic, rewarding, challenging at times but just like any other year I have had, I wouldn’t have changed anything.  Everything I do and have done has been for a reason and it’s all been worthwhile.

Every day’s a school day and a day you haven’t learned something new, is a day wasted!

Serious about starting your own Home Business or still Window Shopping?

I have come across many people asking me questions about the Home Business Opportunity I am currently in.  The first question I always get asked is “what is it you actually sell” and this quickly turns to a look that is desperate to ask “well how much money do you make at it”?

So in my head I divide the people asking me questions into 2 groups and don’t get me wrong there is nothing negative about either group but it’s just that one section is more ready to act on their instincts.

I will call the groups ‘prospects’ and ‘searchers’.  The prospects adopt a more realistic and holistic approach whilst the searchers are on a journey seeking out as many different opportunities as they can in the hope that the next email they receive is the one that will make them a millionaire overnight!

So how do you tell the difference I hear you ask?  It is quite simple really and the categorising of each group is based on a) types of questions asked and b) how many other businesses they try and compare.

hidden prospectssearcher2

Let’s go ahead here and I’ll come up with some of the personality traits that I have come across:

  1. Prospects understand the principles of costs being associated with a business opportunity and totally get that aside from the initial costs, there will be some small additional and eventually some marketing costs.  Searchers will complain about the time it is taking their business to bring them in a substantial income or how much they have to pay to get it up and running where it is making a living for them.  They will also raise comment about having to put in a lot of work in the early days and immediately expect to just work 3-4 hours each day, from the get go and the money comes rolling in.
  2. Prospects are willing to learn and are like sponges in the early days, thirstily soaking up all the knowledge they can get.  Searchers will normally have their own way and consider it a better way of doing things.
  3. Prospects understand the fundamental concept of internet marketing and will use the internet to grow their business whilst on the other hand Searchers will talk about all the people they know who are going to join them and help them grow their business.
  4. Prospects will rapidly implement the training given whilst Searchers are always looking for ways to innovate rather than duplicate.  This can be a good thing though sometimes as well.  The world of internet marketing is continually evolving and we have to remain ahead of the game.
  5. Prospects tend to follow their gut instincts and will quickly see the opportunity is right for them and will join.  Searchers will seek out the opinion of others first, valuing their opinions above their own.
  6. Prospects will want to know exactly what they have to do to make money and build their team.  Searchers will be more interested in what the top earners are making and how quickly they can do the same.

The qualities I’ve found to be prevalent in both groups are:

Prospects – commitment, vision, ambition, strong work ethic, trainable, learn from mistakes

Searchers – dreamlike, unrealistic expectation and vision, work ethic if it reaps financial gain, mistakes are seen as confirmation that it doesn’t work.

prospects

If you fall into the Prospect category, you are the kind of person I want to work with in this first class opportunity.    You know where you want to go and I will do my hardest to ensure you get there.

If you arsearchere a Searcher and have been doing this for some time now, I really hope you find what you are looking for although something tells me you may spend a long, long time searching but I wish you all the best in your venture.

What is Niche Marketing – a simple explanation?

What is a niche?

A niche is a term used often by Internet Marketers and it means a specific segment of a market.  In theory, you seek out specific segments of a market and get a website; you then promote it to your list and market your product to them.  In a nutshell, it is what your website is all about.

newbieHow to start an internet business the wrong way

Beginners spend a lot of time looking for new niches or untapped niches and there’s a lot of sites online promising to give you untapped niches.  If you’re a beginner, don’t do this.  This is a waste of your time and it’s a waste of your energy.  Once you get more established and you are comfortable using all your new skills then perhaps start to experiment with more diverse niches.  To start with though:

STICK WITH THE MAIN 3 MARKETS

When starting out in an internet business you should know that there are 3 markets that are universally popular and these 3 markets have thousands, even millions of people searching and prepared to buy information on them.

In truth, you could spend your entire online career within these 3 markets and never have to venture outside of them and still make a substantial online income.  These 3 niches follow the basic rule of economics and that is Supply and Demand.  People are looking for something, you have it and you sell it to them.  If you can find what people are demanding, and you can supply it, you will be in business forever.

Don’t make it any more difficult than it needs to be, stick with the main 3 markets and you WILL be successful

What are these 3 main markets?

Pure and simply they are:

HEALTH

WEALTH

LIFESTYLE

A niche is a section of one of these markets.  Let’s look at some suggestions within each of these markets:

WEALTH

  • Online trading
  • Work from home
  • Credit cards
  • Internet marketing
  • Start your own business
  • Mortgages
  • Debt relief
  • Business opportunities
  • Government grants
  • How to purchase foreclosures

The author’s main opportunity focuses around Internet Marketing and that alone is a multi billion dollar industry.

HEALTH

  • Healthy Eating
  • Medical procedures
  • Increase energy
  • Headache relief
  • Lose weight
  • Gain weight
  • Hair loss
  • Supplements
  • Skin care
  • Children’s health
  • Diet
  • Quit smoking

LIFESTYLE

Most people today crave and desire a healthy work/life balance although many fail to achieve it.  This is mainly down to longer working hours, time spent commuting to and from work, never actually finishing work in the office and continuing with it at home and therefore having no real quality of life.  Other niches within this large industry include:

  • Mind, body and spirit – a major boom industry at the moment
  • Personal development
  • Dating
  • Computer games
  • How to sell your house
  • The web
  • Online study courses – another multimillion dollar industry.  You could build yourself a website and sell online courses to meet the ever growing demand.
  • Alternative energy
  • Motivation
  • Self improvement
  • Spirituality
  • Pets
  • DIY
  • Relationship advice
  • Divorce
  • Stress management

If one of the 3 main areas above resonate with you and you are knowledgeable about it, you could easily have an online business.  Consider all the ideas above and start thinking creatively and thinking ‘I’ve always sort of been interested in xyz’.  Why not expand your interest and start your own business?

Where do I start in finding products to market?

There are a number of areas you can find businesses to promote and some of these are:

  • Commission Junction
  • Shareasale
  • Clickbank
  • Clixgalore
  • HD Publishing
  • Market Health

Firstly though you have to build a list otherwise you have no-one to market your products to.  You could if you wish start by signing up for a few lists.  Google products in your area of interest and discover what sort of products people are promoting.  See what is out there by doing a bit of market research.

In summary, that is what a niche is and it is what your eventual website will be about, the subject matter if you like of your site.

Alternatively, you could invest in a TurnKey business that is 100% genuine, offers limitless potential in terms of earning and takes you through how to market, what to market, where to market and everything else a complete novice to online marketing would need to know.  Check it out in My Main Opportunity above.

2010 – same as 2009 or will it be the Year ‘you did it’!

2010

I remember sitting around this time last year thinking to myself  “I am going to do something different with my life in 2009″.  I thought of the usual New Year resolutions we all make, sign up for gym membership, lose weight, exercise at least 3 times a week and what happens – yes, you start the year off with great intentions that quickly evaporate and it’s back to the same old, same old.

I did decide though that I wanted a new challenge and I knew I wanted to work for myself.  I didn’t know how I was going to do it, but that was my goal.

January, February, March came and went and I had browsed occasionally on the internet looking for home businesses but it was only a half-hearted approach.  You see, I’m quite an impulsive person and always follow my gut instinct because it never lets me down.  Nothing I was reading or watching was having much of an effect on me, hence my half-hearted approach.  I was thinking about franchises (really, really expensive most of them) and it’s never really YOUR business.

What was attracting me to the franchise element of self employment was the umbrella, or safety net of knowing there was support, that people would help me in the early days and I wouldn’t be totally going it alone, although totally going it alone was my ultimate goal.

Around April time, I came across YourNetBiz and started watching the many videos on the business, read and watched all the testimonials and although I looked at several similar internet marketing businesses, something inside of me was telling me this is what I’ve been searching for.

I asked loads of questions from my mentor and also the Personal Business Assistants who do all the selling in the business and received honest, upfront and direct answers to all my questions.  I also liked the values of the people in the business as they were similar to my own.

What I can say now as we reach the end of 2009, I achieved what I set out to do 12 months ago, I am running my own business and have no regrets whatsoever.  Even now, as I receive endless emails daily about other opportunities, nothing in my eyes matches the opportunity I have with YourNetBiz.

It’s not only the first class training I received and continue to receive twice weekly through our webinars, here I learn from the very best in the business, the big hitters, those millionaires and billionaires who are not threatened by sharing with us the strategies that they still use to this day.  No, it’s a combination of everything, it’s the hundreds of hours of video, audio and e training I have sitting there in my back office and can confidently learn how to do anything on the internet, because there will be a product in the back office to teach me.

I cannot believe that 12 months ago I knew nothing about internet marketing and I mean nothing!!  I actually thought a domain name was the whole website and a blog was just where someone ranted and raved about something they didn’t like.

I’m pleasantly surprised at how much I now know after only a few months in the business.  I can turn my hand to most things, love passing on my knowledge now and can engage in internet marketing conversations with ease and confidence.

resolutionIf you’re sitting where I was 12 months ago, know you want to get more out of life, realise that the true value of time rests in spending time with family and friends, then do what I did and I promise you will not regret it.  Well, you won’t providing you choose the opportunity that is right for you and don’t get too caught up in all the hype out there.

There’s absolutely nothing to be afraid of except the fear itself, it’s a step worth taking and it will change your whole life FOREVER.

Correct Mindset – 4 factors you need to consider for success in the online world

Everybody says they have the correct mindset but more often than not people don’t.  So what exactly is the correct mindset and how does it work?1

TIME

What exactly does it mean to have the correct mindset to make money online?  Most people I speak with do not realise that to establish a credible and sustainable business is going to take time.  If your entire focus is on making money, then I ask you to challenge your mindset.  So TIME is the first thing you will need.

When I discuss making money online with this group of people I always advise them to either stay where they are in their regular job or go and get another job because they are not going to build a sustainable business online.  Now you can make really good money eventually but it did take me 5 months before I saw any signs of income coming in.

Do I think everyone takes that long to generate an income?  Absolutely not – providing they have the correct tools and do not have mentors that tell them WHAT to do but not HOW to do it.  With the most appropriate form of training you can easily be in profit sooner than that but a realistic timeframe would be 2-3 months.

EFFORT

The second important factor in building an online business is EFFORT.  It is going to take some effort on your part to learn all these new skills and implement them as soon as you learn them.  I would advise that as soon as you do learn a new skill, put it into practice immediately otherwise you will forget it.  I align this to that famous quote ‘tell a man how to fish and he’ll remember it for an hour, show him and he’ll remember it for a day but let him do it himself and he’ll remember it forever’.  The same principles apply when learning new skills in online marketing – learn it then do it!3

DISCIPLINE

The third factor you need to apply is DISCIPLINE.  Yes you are working from home, yes you have no-one breathing down your neck and giving tight deadlines, but you are working and that should be your focus.  Do not keep checking your emails, do not download another eBook, do not go into forums to see what is going on.  Unsubscribe from all those lists that clutter up your inbox.

EXPENSE

To create an online business it will need an amount of expense from you.   It is a business and like any offline business there is the initial set up costs.  Proportionally however, in comparison to an offline business the costs are almost negligible.  The three essential expenses you need to invest in setting up an online business are:

·         Domain name – approx $10 (one-off payment)

·         Hosting account – approx $7 per month

·         Auto responder – approx $19 per month

You will see that you can start a web business for less than $40 and be in substantial profit in just a few short months.

2In summary then, the correct mindset in order to succeed in an online business is TIME, EFFORT, DISCIPLINE and minor EXPENSE.  To be successful you need to have all 4 and work each day employing the 3 main factors.  If you just take the time to REALLY learn and master all the tools, you will continue to reap the rewards every day you work at your online business.

SMART Internet Marketing – what does it really mean?

Coming from a corporate background where SMART objectives were continuously being pushed upon you, it got me thinking as to how this applies in the online world of business, particularly within internet marketing.

1SMART stands for Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time bound.  What it basically means is “are you focussed and doing something with an obvious outcome and are you spending just the right amount of time on any given task”.

It is far more difficult to work smarter within the internet marketing world.  After all, you have no-one breathing down your neck for that report to be completed by 6pm.  This is probably one of the main reasons you came into internet marketing in the first place to get away from those types of pressure.

Smart internet marketing is about setting yourself daily, weekly, monthly or even hourly goals.  First of all you need to ask yourself “what is the benefit I will get from doing a, b or c”?  Do I want an immediate benefit or is this part of the bigger and longer term picture?

For example you may set yourself a target of writing 3 articles in one day.  How much time are you going to spend on researching each topic, and how many words are you aiming to write?  This would be an example of a longer term benefit as once your article is out there, it remains there and will continue to drive traffic for you in the years to come but it is rare to see immediate results from a particular article.

If on the other hand, you have your list and want to market a particular product to them, this would be an immediate benefit, because if the product is right for them, they will buy and you will have immediate rewards.

2Smart internet marketing is also about remaining focussed on your goals and not being easily distracted by other internet marketing sites, it is about having a strategy and sticking to it.  You have to also be confident that the task you set for yourself is achievable and can be realistically completed within a reasonable time frame.  You should also question your reasons for doing it.

By following the basic principles of SMART objectives within your targeted internet marketing approach, you will ensure focus and immediate and sustainable results.

3Last thing each night, I think up what I want to achieve the next day and I write this down.  I also try and put a time limit on each task I want to complete and prioritise them in a couple of ways.  I start with the easiest task in terms of time to complete, and then move on that way.  I may rearrange my priorities depending on the niche market at the time and if I need to get something out pretty quickly, then I will start with that.

Work at home on the internet – is it for me and what do I need to know?

As more and more people are looking for alternative ways of working, there are so many options available that it can be difficult to sift through the quagmire and determine what the right one for you is.

For the purpose of this article I am going to focus on working from home on the internet, why it may be just what you are looking for and the basic essentials for setting up in the industry.

Why work at home on the internet?

Working at home on the internet is probably the most flexible and lucrative type of home based business there is out there.   Where else can you start work when you like, work in your underwear if you so wish and meet people on a global basis from all over the world?  The possibilities for the type of internet business are endless.

You work your internet business around your lifestyle and not the other way around which is the case with a regular job.  If you’re a parent, you can confidently take the children to school and not get frustrated and anxious when you’re caught in traffic because it really does not matter that you will be late for work.  You work WHEN YOU WANT TO and that is the beauty of working from home in an internet job.

Once you have your laptop/PC set up you can periodically walk away and do other things around the house that previously you have had to face at the end of a long working day.  You can have quality time with your children because again it is okay to be distracted; no-one is going to tell you off.

How to work at home on the internet?

Firstly you will need a PC and/or laptop with broadband access.  You will also need a set of headphones, preferably the type with microphone attached.  This will allow you to watch the many video tutorials that are out there and also chat with people through Skype which is a FREE method of communication with others who are also on the Skype system.

You will need to have good time management skills as the internet is so full of interesting information that it is very easy to get sidetracked from what your main purpose is.  Consequently you will also need to be self disciplined, self motivated with a strong ‘can do’ attitude to succeed.

In terms of skills sets before signing up to any work from home internet business, you will need to at least be able to use the internet and send and receive emails.  If you can do this, then you can work at home on the internet.

How to get started working from home on the internet

Firstly take your time and do not rush into investing in an online opportunity.  There are thousands out there so do your research, ask lots of questions to determine the following:

  • A genuine opportunity and therefore a sustainable legitimate internet business
  • Initial set up costs, if it is a FREE business opportunity, you really need to be aware that there is no 100% free internet business out there.  You will eventually pay a cost and that cost may be far more than you are willing to pay.  It may also not just be a financial cost so please do your due diligence.
  • What do you actually get?  Is there coaching and/or mentoring available?  Is it a turnkey business i.e. a readymade business that you just need to personalise and comes with a full training package and lots of highly sought after products to get you going?
  • Are you paying over the odds for just a brand?  This would be similar to a franchise in the offline world.
  • Ask to speak with a real person who is in the business, or several of them, find out what they think and how successful they are

I hope this article goes some way to helping you when you are at the earliest stages of wanting to do something different with your life.  Working from home on the internet can be extremely rewarding both personally and financially but it is not easy finding the right opportunity.  Only you can say what that is so take your time and do not get caught up in the hype and false promises as there are many of those.  If this article makes just one person stop and think then carry out a bit more research, it has more than served its purpose.  Good luck and I hope you are as fortunate as I was in finding exactly the best business that exceeds and continues to surpass any expectations I had.

How can I find an online coaching business that is right for me – 10 point check list?

If you were to type into the search engines ‘online coaching business’ there will be thousands of sites that appear but how do you gauge the one that is right for you?

2It is very easy to get caught up in a lot of the hype that is out there and amidst all of that, there are hundreds, possibly even thousands of good, well intended and reputable online coaching businesses.  When you are completely new, it is very easy to get sucked into something that looks as though it is exactly what you are looking for, but from personal experience can fall far short of what was originally promised.

So how can I, through this article prevent you from making similar mistakes I did in the early stages?

  • Firstly you need to identify what is it you really want to learn?
  • How much online marketing experience do you already have?
  • What credentials does the online coaching business have?
  • How many clients do they have, are you going to be one of thousands?
  • How do they conduct the online coaching, is it on a 1-1 basis, is it through a series of emails, video tutorials or is there a real person you will be dealing with?
  • How accessible are they going to be to you?
  • What guarantees are they giving you?  This is one to watch as no-one anywhere can guarantee your success.  Your success or otherwise rests firmly with you, your motivation and mindset to succeed.3
  • What fees are they charging?  Is it a one-off fee, a monthly recurring fee, or perhaps you pay for individual consultations?
  • How current are they in the knowledge they are passing on?  The online world and ways of marketing are changing almost daily and what worked well this time last year may now be ineffective.
  • Do they have a forum set up whereby you can liaise/network/share learning experiences with other online coaching business students?

I would advise that before you sign up to any online coaching business that you use this check list above.  You may have several other questions in addition to those above.   I would suggest you cut and paste them and leave space under each question to write the answers as you assess the online coaching business and its suitability to meet your needs.

The world of online marketing is like no other, and like many others moving into internet marketing, I tried to bring a lot of my experience from the offline world into my business in the early days and quickly learned it is almost incomparable.  Due diligence is the key of the day; there are many ruthless online coaching businesses although thankfully these are outnumbered by the genuine opportunities that can also come your way if you just take the time to assess exactly what it is you need.  On a similar level on the scale, assess what you don’t need.  There will be many FREE offerings to get you to sign up with a specific online coach and my advice here is, if it is something you are not actively looking for at this time, focus on what it is you are looking for and leave the free gift for another time.   Ask yourself if it is a ‘need’ rather than a ‘want’ and that should provide you with the answer.

Career change at 50 – 50 is the new 30!

It wasn’t so long ago that employment stability was the hallmark of an emotional maturity and reliability.  After all, our parents and their parents were of the mindset that if you do a good job, then that is you set up for life.  Those days are well and truly gone now and today’s culture lends itself to doing a good job, but only short-term.  New skills are quickly learned then taken elsewhere and the average time spent by the younger workforce is 2-3 years in any one job.  Most people expect to change jobs several times in their working lives, and some may even change their career.1

We are healthier today and are more productive longer so we have time to gain experience in several types of work, not just one.  The marketplace changes so rapidly that many careers today are unrecognisable from their forms even 5 years ago, and some have even disappeared altogether!

Some people are being forced into transition for many reasons, not least of all by the world recession that well over one year later is still looming over the world.

So, is it too late to change your career at 50?3

Speaking as someone who did and has never looked back, I say most definitely not.  I feel more productive now than at any other time in my life.  I have many work and life experiences under my belt, have accomplished most of the things I wanted to although for many years I knew I wanted to do something different with my professional life.  I knew I no longer wanted to work ‘for’ anyone, I wanted more control over my life and I most definitely did not want to commute to work every day.  So, I chose to work from home within online marketing and have never looked back.  My one regret is that I did not do it years ago.

What is the best career change for someone at 50?

Make a list of the elements of your current work that give you satisfaction?  Is it the people you work with?  The tasks you perform?  They way you feel about yourself when you have achieved a goal?  The geographical location of your job?  The nature of the industry?  How your work benefits your customers?  By doing this, you will draw up a list of what your motivators and strengths are and will reach a conclusion of the type of career you want versus what you most definitely do not want.   Once you have done this exercise, then a free career self assessment tool can be found hereI am receiving no financial gain for promoting this link.

What career change opportunities are available for someone over 50?

If you are looking to work in a home based opportunity, then the fact that you are 50 or over is most definitely a major plus.  You will undoubtedly have all the relevant transferrable skills to make a success of running your own business.  As a graduate from the University of Life, 5your skills set will consist of people skills, adaptability, flexibility, results orientated, can do attitude, strong work ethic, motivation, determination and a sound knowledge and vision of what you want to achieve.  With a positive mindset anything is possible and if you believe in yourself, you know you are worth it then what is there in the world to stop you achieving your dream.

If you want to continue in a JOB then you may find that some employers are ageist despite their best efforts not to be.  Many still fail to see the value in a more experienced employee, preferring to opt for someone younger who in fitting with the culture, will probably move on after a year or two.  Some employers on the other hand actively embrace the more experienced person, realise their value and the commitment and loyalty they will bring.

Career change at 50 – how fulfilled do you feel?

2Remember your earlier dreams and think back to those careers you dreamed about when you were younger.  You probably had some big, idealistic ideas for your future as a child, and you might have abandoned them prematurely in favour of more seemingly practical choices.

Perhaps the time to realise those dreams is now.  Refresh your memory of what those early dreams were and how they made you feel about yourself when you imagined doing your dream work.  Now you are equipped with more world knowledge and a more adult intellect, how many different real careers can you list that would realise or resurrect those feelings?

Living my dream now

I never thought for one minute that I would be working in an online business.  I am living the life I always wanted, I am able to make lots of money online and all this despite having a very little knowledge of IT.  The business I joined is a Turnkey business so it had everything all there that I needed to get up and running and into profit quickly.  I have no end of video and audio tutorials and had the luxury of a mentor, a real person to help me get up and running.  I am fortunate enough now to be a mentor of others and spent a lot of time helping my team during the initial stages.  This combines 2 of my main strengths, one is helping others succeed and two is learning something new each and every day.  My motto throughout life is ‘a day wasted is a day I haven’t learned something’.

Home business reviews – an honest perspective on some home business reviews out there

This blog post is written for 2 main reasons.  One because the author spent many months researching and reading hundreds of home business reviews before opting for the internet business she works in today.  Second reason was as a topic for an article and blog post that would go some way to educating and informing others who are at the research phase at the moment, so in effect this article is written with the potential home business opportunity buyer in mind.

scams3What exactly are home business reviews?

Home business reviews come in many shapes and sizes and are written for many reasons, some best known to the authors themselves.  What I found when doing my research was it is very difficult to ascertain the genuine reviewers and those who are writing just to get an article published.  I now have internet marketing knowledge under my belt, so I thought I would revisit those home business reviews and just see if my perspective on them has changed in any way.

In my very early days of research I found it very easy to be sucked into a lot of the hype that is out there and what I did in those instances was take a note of the home business opportunity then immediately go to Ezine Articles and look for all the reviews on that actual business.  This helped me greatly as I was able to quickly gauge what would and would not work for me.

Another source I went to for home business reviews was You Tube.  Here again you can find several internet business reviews and home business scam videos and it too was an invaluable source to me.  One word of caution though, again you need to question some people’s motives for putting the video out there.  Are they doing it as a way of self-promotion or is it a genuine review posted there in order to help others?  It is amazing how one very straightforward video or article heading can quickly digress to self promotion and this is something all reviewers need to be mindful of.

How do you determine the genuine business from the scammers in the home business reviews?scams

The first thing I would suggest is following all the steps I took that are outlined earlier in this article.  Find all the locations that offer home business reviews and study every one.  If there are no contact details there on the website and they just want you to click through and get put on a mailing list, then I would urge you to consider carefully.  Genuine businesses will hide nothing from you, if they are real people, promoting a real opportunity, they will gladly give out their phone number and/or email address on their website.

Summary

scams1Home business reviews can be written by anyone, they do not even have to know much about the actual business to write a review on it.  Many people are paid just to write reviews so this too is something to be mindful of.  You may also find them under headings such as Small Business Reviews, Internet Business Reviews or Business Scams.  I would advise you to read them all before committing to what could be a life changing future for you or financial disaster – please do your due diligence just like I did and you will not regret it.
